Elite power-speed shortstop Gunnar Henderson did everything he could β 3-for-5 with a homer and two RBI β but Mitch Keller's six innings of two-run ball with four strikeouts held the Orioles at bay just long enough for Pittsburgh to survive 5-4.
Sean Burke was the story β six innings, seven strikeouts, one earned run β giving Chicago just enough pitching to squeak past Toronto 5-4. Andres Gimenez went deep with two RBI, while Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Japanese HR king Munetaka Murakami combined for a meager 2-for-8 line.
MacKenzie Gore's nine strikeouts over six innings were impressive but not quite enough β Spencer Steer (2-for-4, homer, two RBI) and Tyler Stephenson (2-for-4, homer, two RBI) did the bulk of the damage for Cincinnati. Brady Singer started for the Reds and pitched five innings of two-run ball with five K's. World Series MVP Corey Seager went 0-for-4.
Bryan Woo was untouchable over seven scoreless innings with six strikeouts, outdueling Reid Detmers (6.2 IP, 0 ER) in a pitchers' battle. Josh Naylor broke through with a 2-for-5, two-RBI performance while three-time MVP Mike Trout went hitless in two at-bats.
Eduardo Rodriguez pitched seven scoreless innings to outduel Grant Holmes (6 IP, 0 ER), and it was Ozzie Albies' 3-for-4 night with a homer and an RBI that made the difference. Matt Olson added a solo shot while former NL MVP Ronald Acuna Jr. and 2023 NLCS MVP Ketel Marte both went 1-for-4 without an RBI.
Sonny Gray was steady over six innings of two-run ball, while Michael King got tagged for four earned in 5.2 innings. Marcelo Mayer led the offense at 2-for-2 with a homer and two RBI, and electric talent Fernando Tatis Jr. (0-for-4, .200) and perennial MVP candidate Manny Machado (0-for-3, .182) both went hitless.
Chase DeLauter did all the damage Cleveland needed, raking 3-for-4 with a long ball and three ribbies while Joey Cantillo dealt 5.1 innings of one-run ball with six strikeouts. Five-time All-Star Jose Ramirez added two hits but couldn't find an RBI.
Framber Valdez was masterful β six scoreless frames, five K's, nothing doing for St. Louis. Dillon Dingler provided the pop with a two-run homer, going 1-for-4 as the Tigers pitched a shutout.
Nobody saw Tristan Gray coming. The light-hitting utility man went 1-for-2 with a homer and five RBI to blow the game open, while Joe Boyle dazzled with 5.1 innings of two-run ball and nine strikeouts. Tampa Bay's Kevin Kelly got shelled for five earned runs in just a third of an inning.
The AL's home run king Aaron Judge went 2-for-3 with a homer and three RBI, still shaking off a slow start (.185 AVG), while Ben Rice β 2-for-5 with a homer and three driven in β provided the thunder from the bottom of the order. Will Warren went 5.2 innings, surrendering two earned on six strikeouts.
Cristian Javier's day was a disaster β 3.2 innings, six earned runs, and reliever Roddery Munoz added five more earned in 1.1 innings behind him. Lawrence Butler pounced, going 3-for-5 with a homer and four RBI, while Jeffrey Springs dealt six innings of one-run ball with seven K's for Oakland.
Former AL MVP Shohei Ohtani dealt the biggest blows β 2-for-5, a homer, four RBI β but CJ Abrams stole the storyline, going 2-for-5 with a homer and four RBI against the team that traded him away. Emmet Sheehan gutted through 5.2 innings but allowed four earned runs as both offenses traded haymakers before L.A. pulled away.
Francisco Alvarez stole the show with a surprise multi-homer game β 2-for-5 with two long balls and two RBI β as the Mets crushed the Giants 10-3. Nolan McLean pitched 5.1 sharp innings of one-run ball while Giants starter Tyler Mahle surrendered five earned runs in five frames.
Michael Lorenzen's night was a catastrophe: three innings, nine earned runs, game essentially over before it started. Aaron Nola was everything Lorenzen wasn't β 6.1 innings, nine K's, one earned run β while Trea Turner (3-for-4) and Brandon Marsh (homer, three RBI) led the Phillies' attack.

Daily Trivia
The Knicks beat the Bulls by 40 points last night at Madison Square Garden. Only one arena in NBA history has hosted more All-Star Games than Madison Square Garden β which arena is it?
Reveal Answer
The old Boston Garden, which hosted the NBA All-Star Game five times compared to Madison Square Garden's four appearances as host.
Madison Square Garden is actually the fourth arena to carry that name in New York City. The current building, which opened in 1968, is the only one still standing β and it sits on top of Pennsylvania Station, one of the busiest train stations in the United States.
